Paris Airports: hydrogen networks under study

The ADP group and GRTgaz will launch a joint study aimed at evaluating the conditions for transporting hydrogen by pipeline to Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Paris-Orly airports.

If the democratization of hydrogen planes is not imminent, the players are hard at work to prepare for their arrival, first of all by preparing the infrastructures essential to their implementation. In addition to the refueling aspect, it is also the transport of hydrogen that raises questions. It is in this context that the ADP group approached GRTgaz.

Associated since 2021 with Air Liquide and Airbus to measure the challenges linked to the integration of hydrogen infrastructure for its Ile-de-France airports, the ADP group will work jointly with the GRTgaz teams to define the transport of hydrogen by pipes.

Under the terms of the agreement, GRTgaz will be responsible for evaluating the different logistics supply chains from a technical-economic point of view. Two avenues will be explored: the use of existing gas pipelines and the construction of new networks. For its part, the ADP group will share its expertise and vision in terms of integrating hydrogen into its airport sites.

“Hydrogen is part of the future of air transport. This is why we must now allow the emergence of the first uses of hydrogen on the ground in airports while being ready to welcome hydrogen planes” summarizes Augustin de Romanet, Chairman and CEO of Groupe ADP.
