Activities of the institute of renewable energy during the war

Basic and applied scientific research carried out by the Institute of Renewable Energy is not directly related to defense activities, but their results can be used to strengthen the energy security of the country and restore the economy in the post-war period through the use of renewable energy sources.
With regard to charitable and volunteer activities of employees in the interests of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and territorial defense, the following was performed.

DEVELOPED, MANUFACTURED AND TRANSFERRED TO THE ARMY BY THE INSTITUTE OF RENEWABLE ENERGY OF THE NAS OF UKRAINE

Generating and charging device: “Autonomous portable solar power plant 220/12 V, 500 W, 18 A-hour”, handed over to the 28th separate mechanized brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign on 04/30/2022.

INSTITUTE OF RENEWABLE ENERGY OF THE NAS OF UKRAINE AND THE DEPARTMENT OF RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES OF THE FACULTY OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING AND AUTOMATICS OF THE NATIONAL TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF UKRAINE “KIYIV POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE EVERYTHING WAS JOINTLY DEVELOPED, MANUFACTURED AND TRANSFERRED TO THE ARMY

  • A single-phase autonomous power supply system with a capacity of 2.4 kW and Solar Light lanterns, (for the 28th separate mechanized brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign), 04/12/2022;
  • Four sets of photoelectric chargers with MOTOROLA walkie-talkies with the possibility of charging other portable devices (phones, tablets) to the territorial defense unit of the city of Kyiv, April 11, 2022;
  • Four portable energy storage devices (power bank) with integrated photoelectric charging system 5V DC (5W, 30 A*h). The system simultaneously allows you to charge 2 mobile phones in the field;
    Two systems consisting of a portable storage device (power bank) with an integrated photovoltaic charging system at 5V DC and an additional step-up converter for charging radios at 8V DC (photoelectric system at 18 W, power bank at 20 A*h). The system simultaneously allows you to charge 2 mobile phones and two walkie-talkies in the field;
  • To ensure the purchase and manufacture of the specified and other equipment by the Institute of Renewable Energy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine together with the Department of Renewable Energy Sources of the FEA KPI named after Funds in the amount of more than 210,000 hryvnias were collected from Ihor Sikorsky, and about 50,000 hryvnias more. employees individually. Assistance in the manufacture and delivery of equipment was provided, in particular, by the private company “Grand Overon”, created by graduates of the department.

VOLUNTEER, HUMANITARIAN AID AND TERRITORIAL DEFENSE ASSISTANCE

A number of employees of the Institute of Renewable Energy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine personally participated in volunteer work and the provision of humanitarian aid. In particular, it was noted:

  • Member-cor. National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine S.O. Kudryu, candidate technical Sciences Karmazina O.O., Candidate of Sciences technical scientists S.V. Klyus, K.V. Petrenko – thanks to the Vatutinska urban territorial community of Kyiv for organizing the delivery of humanitarian aid to displaced people and for compensating transport costs;
  • Cand. technical Sciences Karmazina O.O., Candidate of Sciences technical Sciences Klyus S.V., Petrenko K.V. – with thanks to the “Zarady Tebe” VBO for selfless volunteer assistance in a joint humanitarian center aimed at supporting needy citizens of Ukraine of various ethnic groups and religious affiliations;
  • Nikolaevska N.V. — thanks to the 128th Battalion of the 112th Territorial Defense Brigade of the city of Kyiv for their fruitful work and significant contribution to the strengthening of the state’s defense capabilities, during the period of Russia’s hostile invasion of the territory of Ukraine
