A digital tool for communities, investors and energy project developers
The Interactive Map of Renewable Energy and Green Hydrogen in Ukraine is a digital information and analytical tool developed by the Institute of Renewable Energy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine to assess the energy potential of different areas and conduct a preliminary analysis of their suitability for renewable energy and green hydrogen projects.
For territorial communities, the platform already provides an opportunity to assess their own resource potential, including available areas for solar and wind power plants, wind resource characteristics, potential installed capacity and electricity generation, as well as biohydrogen potential. The data can serve as an information basis for planning local energy development, identifying promising opportunities for the use of local renewable energy resources, and preparing future energy projects.
To assess the prospects for green hydrogen development, the map combines resource, territorial and infrastructure indicators, including solar and wind energy potential, water resources, access to power grids, roads and railways, gas transmission infrastructure, ports, and other factors. These indicators are used to generate an integrated assessment of the investment attractiveness of territorial communities for different hydrogen project scenarios — for domestic use and export.
The platform operates at the level of territorial communities, enabling users to move from a general assessment of Ukraine’s resources to the analysis of a specific area and its resource profile. The tool is designed for preliminary spatial analysis and decision support and does not replace a detailed feasibility study for a specific project.
